Motion Picture Institute

Motion Picture Institute is one of the oldest vocational film schools in the Midwest, having trained hundreds of film professionals since 1998. Motion Picture Institute's 20,000-square-foot facility is located in Troy. The facility includes a 6,000-square-foot sound stage, scene shop, editing lab, private editing suites, audio mix room and screening room. Founded by two filmmakers, our teaching philosophy is "on-set education," referring to the way in which all classically trained film professionals were originally taught - and that was on a production.
